MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Three men could find themselves chewed up and spit out by the law after Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies said they were involved in a four-figure gum heist at a drug store in the Kendall area on Thursday.
Karel Desten Montes de Oca, 40, Adan Mesa Cepero, 58, and Yerandy Ramirez Ramos, 27, are all facing charges.
Authorities said Ramirez walked into the Walgreens at 11690 SW 72nd St. at around 2:30 p.m., grabbed a shopping basket, took “various packages of gum” worth $1,260.68, then walked out.
Deputies said they saw him walking with Mesa, both carrying “Walgreens bags full of merchandise.”
The two rendezvoused with Montes de Oca, who was in the driver’s seat of a Honda Accord parked at the restaurant, an arrest report states. Deputies said they then saw Montes de Oca begin to organize the stolen loot and moved in to burst their bubble, taking them into custody.
As they searched the vehicle after arresting the trio, deputies said they also found goods stolen from a CVS at 18478 NW 67th Ave. earlier that day.
The three remained jailed on various felony charges, including theft and dealing in stolen property, as of Friday.
