Mother left 3 kids in car to go to Walmart in Sunrise: Police

A 29-year-old woman left three children inside a car while she was inside a Walmart Superstore on Sunday in Sunrise, according to police.

Ciera Washington appeared in Broward County court on Monday. She was accused of leaving the children in a Nissan Sentra parked at 12555 West Sunrise Boulevard.

Cenithia Lewis overheard witnesses in the parking lot saying there were kids inside the Nissan, so she decided to approach the car and open the unlocked door.

"I see the first kid," Lewis said. “He’s on the floor of the car with no clothes, just a diaper on ... The two babies was just diapers, poop, and they were wet, drenched.”

The car wasn’t running, and all of the windows were up, according to the Sunrise police officer’s arrest report. Washington faced three counts of child neglect without great bodily harm.

Broward County Circuit Judge Corey B. Friedman set her bond at $3,000 and ordered her to stay away from her three kids pending the outcome of a dependency hearing.

Broward County Circuit Judge Ernest A. Kollra, Jr. is set to preside over the case.
