BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — The Humane Society of Broward showcased Bruce, a 7-month-old Great Pyrenees puppy, on Saturday morning as part of its ongoing adoption efforts.
Bruce, who weighs about 70 pounds and is still growing, was surrendered after his family realized they had too many pets.
His sister is also at the shelter. Known for his gentle nature, Bruce has previously lived with older children and even a Chihuahua.
“He is a puppy, and this breed is active, but it’s not the kind of dog that needs a three-mile run every day,” said Cherie Wachter of the Humane Society of Broward. “Daily playtime outside and walks are plenty. They’re very loyal dogs.”
Potential adopters should be aware that Great Pyrenees require regular grooming due to their thick double coats. Bruce will also need to be neutered before adoption.
In addition to Bruce, the shelter is promoting two 4-month-old kittens, Jackson and Mickey. The shelter is offering a special deal allowing both kittens to be adopted together for a single adoption fee.
Those interested in adopting Bruce or the kittens can complete a pre-adoption application online at humanebroward.com or call the shelter at 954-989-3977.
