WEST MIAMI, Fla. — Officers from the West Miami Police Department and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to a four-vehicle crash in West Miami Sunday evening that left one person in critical condition.
The crash happened near Southwest Eighth Street and 59th Avenue.
Video taken at the scene shows a red SUV with a lot of damage to the front, and a black Chevrolet sedan completely caved in to the side.
The video also shows a dark-colored SUV that had slammed into a grey BMW in front of a Vera jewelry store.
Lots of debris was left behind on the road as police worked the scene surrounded by yellow police tape.
After the collision, a woman was seen sitting on the ground, talking to a police officer.
She appeared to be crying while telling the officer what had occurred.
“Everybody is in a hurry and it’s dangerous. They’ll run you over. Sometimes they don’t even stop,” a man named Javier, who was in the area after the collision, said.
Authorities confirmed one person was transported in critical condition to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
“It’s a sad story. I hope that they (don’t) die or nothing and (he or she) recuperates,” Javier said.
The Miami Police Department assisted with road closures during the crash investigation.
The cause of the crash is unknown.
