PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — Months after David Ambroise turned 18, he recorded his sex crime in Broward County, according to a Pembroke Pines detective’s request for an arrest warrant.

Ambroise, of Fort Lauderdale, held a 16-year-old rape victim “against her will” on July 27 in the backseat of a white 2007 Toyota Camry in Pembroke Pines, according to the detective.

After Broward County Circuit Judge Woody R. Clermon issued the arrest warrant, Ambroise surrendered to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.

Inmate records show BSO correctional deputies booked Ambroise at the Broward County Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale and held him at Paul Rein Detention Facility in Pompano Beach without bond.

Ambroise faced charges of sexual battery of a victim between the ages of 12 and 18, a first-degree felony, and possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony.

His bond for the child porn charge was $10,000. The sexual battery charge is a non-bondable offense. Broward County Circuit Judge George Odom Jr. was set to preside over the case.

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 to remain anonymous.
