Omar Aguila, a convicted felon who was born in Cuba and called West Little River home, learned last year that his wife had been cheating on him with the man since 2019 and “warned” her to end it, according to deputies’ arrest report.

Aguila confronted the man when he showed up at his home demanding to talk to his wife on July 10, and surveillance video shows their last fight on July 12 at the Northside Shopping Center, according to deputies.

After learning that the man was allegedly looking for his wife again, Aguila used a blue mobility scooter to find him, and the two argued for less than five seconds before Aguila grabbed a Glock 26 from his waistband and shot him, according to a deputy’s arrest report.

Miami-Dade fire rescue personnel found the wounded victim in a gray Honda Civic and took him to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where a doctor pronounced him dead, according to homicide detectives.

Crime scene technicians reported finding four 9mm bullet casings and one projectile in the Honda and at the crime scene, records show. Deputies arrested Aguila on Thursday, and he was at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Friday night.

Aguila faced charges of second-degree murder with a weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
