MIAMI — Jose Valdes was among the relatives who met for a memorial on Friday night in Miami.
A stray bullet struck and killed Valdes’s sister, Evelyn Valdes, six weeks in Wynwood.
“My family needs closure, and my sister needs justice, and we need answers,” Jose Valdes said.
A gunman also died, and a third victim was injured after a fight devolved into a police-involved shooting, according to the Miami Police Department.
Evelyn Vades was shot at the corner of Northwest 23 Street and First Court.
“She was selfless, she was compassionate, courageous,” Jose Valdes said. “She fought tooth and nail for every single person, and now I have to do the same for her.”
