Grieving family seeking justice for northwest Miami-Dade hit-and-run victim

Police search for driver involved in fatal hit-and-run crash in northwest Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Newly released video shows a deadly hit-and-run crash that happened in northwest Miami-Dade County.

The video shows a man on a bike, riding in a lane of traffic, when suddenly a car slams into him from behind before racing away.

Killed in the crash was 67-year-old Samuel Lee Singletary Jr., who was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

“This is not road kill, this was a human being just like you,” said Dorothy Singletary, the victim’s sister.

In the week since the crime, Singletary’s family has made a public appeal for help in solving the case, and detectives have also returned to the scene along the 9200 block of Northwest Seventh Avenue to sift for clues and to pass out flyers with crucial information about the deadly hit-and-run.

Authorities said the vehicle in question was a dark-colored sedan that fled north on Seventh Avenue around 9:17 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15.

Anyone with information on the driver or the vehicle is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
