FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The 69-year-old man accused of killing Cuiyun Fu at her Asian Spa in Oakland Park is a registered sex offender who reported living in Fort Lauderdale, records show.
Broward County court records show Chris Luchenburg, who was born in New Jersey, was convicted of the sexual battery of a minor in Coral Springs and was accused of domestic violence.
Luchenburg “and Fu had known each other for a few months,” Miranda Grossman, a spokeswoman for the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, wrote in a statement announcing Luchenburg’s arrest on Friday.
The fatal shooting was at Fu’s business on the second floor of a shopping plaza building at 2700 West Oakland Park Boulevard, according to deputies.
Florida records show Fu was the registered agent of Health Spa One and FeiFei Spa One. Both corporations were based where she was killed on Wednesday, and where deputies found her dead on Thursday.
Luchenburg “entered Fu’s business” and “shot and killed her before leaving the scene,” Grossman wrote in a statement. “Her body was discovered the next day.”
BSO correctional deputies booked Luchenburg into the Broward Main Jail, where he remained held without bond as of Saturday morning. He is facing a charge of first-degree murder with a firearm.
During his bond court appearance Saturday, a public defender requested a mental health evaluation, which the judge approved. The judge also found probable cause for the charge.
Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 to remain anonymous.
