Florida animal organization offers $20 microchip special ahead of peak hurricane season

LAKELAND, Fla. — With hurricane season in full swing, SPCA Florida is encouraging pet owners to prepare by taking advantage of a limited-time microchip offer.

The organization’s medical center is offering microchipping services for just $20 now through Nov. 30.

Officials say the offer is aimed at helping families protect their pets should they become lost or need to enter a pet-friendly storm shelter.

They said microchipped pets are also more likely to be accepted into emergency shelters during storms.

SPCA Florida also notes that pets must be up to date on vaccinations to be admitted to those shelters.

Appointments for microchipping and other veterinary services can be made by calling 863-646-7722 or emailing clinic@spcaflorida.org.

SPCA Florida is also seeking community support through donations, foster care and adoptions. More information and a list of adoptable animals is available at www.spcaflorida.org.
