Fort Lauderdale firefighters rescue kitten stuck in car engine

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A kitten was safely rescued from the engine of a car that was parked in front of a Fort Lauderdale home last week, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue confirmed Monday.

Firefighters with FLFR’s Station 2 responded to the call at a home near the 1300 block of Northwest Fifth Street on Friday, after a caller reported hearing meows but couldn’t see the cat.

Firefighters located the kitten, now named “Salem,” nestled inside the car’s engine.

Firefighter Kary Plaza gave Salem a warm bath back at the station, and the kitten is currently awaiting adoption, according to FLFR.

If you would like to adopt Salem, please call FLFR at 954-828-6865.
