NORTH BAY VILLAGE, Fla. — Officials said they responded to an accident involving two personal watercrafts late Monday afternoon that left one person injured.
It happened around 6 p.m. in the waters near the 79th Street Causeway in North Bay Village.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, after the crash, a man operating one of the personal watercrafts was ejected into the water.
He was brought back to shore and then taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
FWC officials said the other personal watercraft, which was yellow, and had a Black male operator and a female passenger in a cheetah print bathing suit, fled the area.
Officers have since put out a BOLO (be on the lookout) for that vessel and the subjects.
Sky 10 flew over the scene Monday and observed an unmanned personal watercraft in the water from above.
There has been no update on the victim’s health status.
FWC investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who may have video footage or information to call the Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-FWCC (3922).
