Israel-Hamas war protesters demonstrate at Miami International Airport, Fort Lauderdale

MIAMI — There were Israel-Hamas war-related protests on Sunday in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

Travelers flying from Miami International Airport with Qatar Airways ran into a group of pro-Israel protesters near the North Terminal Concourse D.

There was a similar demonstration there on Dec. 3. Qatar helped to negotiate the cease-fire deal between Israel and Gaza’s Hamas rulers in November.

Also on Sunday, there was a pro-Palestinian protest in the area of East Broward Boulevard and Southeast Third Avenue. Most of the demonstrators there demanded a cease-fire.

On Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said it “broke” his heart to learn that friendly fire in the Gaza City area of Shijaiyah had killed three hostages: Samer Talalka, 22; Alon Shamriz, 26; and Yotam Haim, 28.

Also on Saturday, U.S.-based Global Communities, a U.S. Agency for International Development contractor, announced that an Israeli airstrike had killed Hani Jnena, 33, a humanitarian worker, on Nov. 5, along with his wife, and their 2-year-old and 4-year-old daughters.

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is scheduled to travel to Israel on Monday.
