HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — A 59-year-old man faced a battery charge on Tuesday in Broward County after a dispute with a neighbor, records show.
Police officers arrested Barry Mesika on Dec. 21 after a neighbor accused him of pepper-spraying him in the eyes in Hollywood.
The victim said they had “been having a dispute over a parking space for a while now,” a Hollywood police officer wrote, according to an arrest report.
Mesika and the victim ran into each other, got into an argument, and Mesika shouted an expletive before pulling out the pepper spray, according to police.
Fire rescue personnel responded to treat the victim at 4100 North 58 Ave., near Stirling Road, just east of North State Road Seven, records show.
Court records show prosecutors filed a second-degree felony aggravated battery case against Mesika on Dec. 22. Broward County Circuit Judge Barbara Duffy was set to preside over the case.
