LAUDERHILL, Fla. — Police in Broward County are searching for the person who stole $30,000 worth of jewelry from a Southwest Ranches home up for sale.

According to the homeowner, Miguel Mourino, the suspect approached him on Saturday and started asking questions about the home.

An open house planned for Sunday was cancelled, but the homeowner said that same man showed up again, this time going into the empty house and to the master closet, stealing Cartier bracelets, a watch, diamond earrings and a necklace.

Mourino had questions for the thief: “How could you do this to a family? Why would you do something like this?”

Davie police said they are investigating.
