MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A convicted felon faced charges on Monday after deputies arrested him for shooting a man at a public park early Sunday morning in Miami-Dade County, records show.
Antonio Braddy shot the man at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park, at 6000 NW 32 Court, in the Brownsville neighborhood, according to Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
The wounded man left his car in the park’s parking lot and crossed Northwest 32 Avenue to get help before deputies arrived at the Caraf Oil gas station at 6151 NW 32 Ave., according to deputies.
The victim “was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds,” a Miami-Dade deputy wrote in a report for Braddy’s arrest.
During the investigation, deputies found a “blood trail” and several 9mm spent bullet casings on the ground near the victim’s white car in the park’s parking lot, according to the arrest report.
Deputies also talked to witnesses. One saw Braddy, 37, arrive on a bicycle, get into an argument with the victim, pull out a firearm, and shoot the victim at least three times, according to the arrest report.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel took the critically injured victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.
Deputies arrested Braddy at the MetroRail’s Northside station at 3150 NW 79 St., and a detective questioned him at the M-DCSO Northside station.
Braddy “provided a conflicting statement that he arrived at the park in search of [a woman]. Upon arrival, he observed the victim choking [the woman] and as he approached them, the victim separated from [the woman] and approached [him] aggressively,” according to the arrest report.
The detective talked to the woman, who was in a romantic relationship with Braddy, and she “confirmed that the victim was never physical towards her,” according to the arrest report.
In Miami-Dade County, Braddy is a convicted felon after a cocaine sale arrest on Jan. 27, 2009, and an aggravated assault on law enforcement and cocaine sale arrest on Aug. 22, 2009, records show.
A Miami-Dade judge sentenced Braddy to three years in prison for the cases on May 2, 2011. According to the Florida Department of Corrections, Braddy was in prison from June 29, 2011, to June 1, 2012.
Braddy was at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Monday night, inmate records show. He faced charges of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and tampering with evidence.
The attempted murder was a no-bond charge. Braddy’s bond for the other two charges was $10,000.
