Local 10 wants to know: Does taking trip pictures really pul you out of the experience?

Smartphones have changed the way people take photos because they can instantly review and retake pictures. Unlike traditional cameras, where people snapped a photo and moved on, phones often encourage taking multiple shots to get the perfect image, especially for social media.

A growing idea is to find a balance between taking photos and enjoying the moment. One suggestion, known as the “30-minute rule,” encourages people to spend the first 30 minutes at a destination without using their phones.

The rule states after taking a few photos, people should put the device away and focus on the experience. The same approach can also apply during meals with friends, helping people stay engaged instead of distracted by their screens.
