DORAL, Fla. — Comedian Fat and Funny, also known by several other names including Lil Aaron and Kitchen, previewed his upcoming show at the Miami Improv with Local 10 on Saturday.
“It was unexpected. I shot the video by mistake waiting on my brother to finish putting on his Deadpool costume, and that video went crazy,” he said of the clip that put him in the spotlight.
Fat and Funny said the show, set for Tuesday, will aim to “bring back the old school comedy vibes” that were popular in Coconut Grove years ago with comedians like Benji Brown.
He’s headlining the Miami stop, which is the first in a tour hitting other cities, including New York. “It’s a celebration of culture,” he said.
Reflecting on his career, Fat and Funny said he’s been working in comedy for more than a decade.
“This ain’t just happen overnight. I’ve been doing it for like 12 years, so … the fruits of my labor is showing, I guess. I’m happy and I’m blessed," he said.
The local comedian also spoke about the role of social media in building his audience.
“I never thought that I’m gonna build a platform like on social media and become a social media presence. I’m doing this for my stand-up. So everything happens for a reason,” he said.
Tickets for the show are available at the Miami Improv for the Sept. 9 performance at 8 p.m. Fat and Funny also said he’ll return for another show in December.
