Kiwanis Club of Little Havana marks 50 years of service at black-tie gala

MIAMI — The Kiwanis Club of Little Havana celebrated its 50th anniversary Saturday night with a black-tie gala that drew hundreds to a Jungle Island ballroom.

The event, hosted by Local 10’s Christina Vazquez, honored the volunteer organization’s long-standing commitment to serving underserved children and families across South Florida.

Founded in 1975, the nonprofit provides scholarships, school supplies, health programs and community projects that reach thousands of families each year.

“As we all know we live in a very unique part of the country,” club president Thomas Falcon said. “There’s constantly people arriving here, immigrants, that need to be served. And at the same time, we’ve been here for 50 years and there’s not a whole lot of organizations that can say that.”

All proceeds from the gala will support the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana Foundation’s mission.
