MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A man died after deputies responded to a house to serve a search warrant on Tuesday in Miami-Dade County as part of an investigation into child pornography, according to deputies.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies with a Special Weapons And Tactics team responded to a house in the area of Southwest 152 Street and 102 Avenue, according to M-DSO.
The Internet Crimes Against Children unit had been investigating the case of child sex abuse and child porn for over a year when deputies used speakers to announce themselves, according to deputies.
“We removed two adults and a child safely from the residence at the door, simply by verbal commands, and then this individual came to the door armed and confronted our deputies,” Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz said during a news conference.
Deputies shot and killed the armed man and arrested a suspect in the child porn investigation, according to deputies.
“ICAC search warrants are the most dangerous warrants historically in law enforcement that we can serve,” Cordero-Stutz said.
The victims in the case that was under investigation were as young as infants and as old as 6 years old, Cordero-Stutz said.
A woman arrived and stood outside the crime scene in tears. She said her son had called her to say, “Mom, SWAT came in and killed my stepson.”
Deputies set up a command post at the Colonial Park at 10750 SW 156 Terrace. Cordero-Stutz said deputies were not injured.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement was investigating the fatal deputy-involved shooting.
This is a developing story.
