Deputies said the collision occurred around 11:45 a.m. near Central Church of the Nazarene, close to the intersection of Northwest 13th Avenue and Northwest 95th Street in the county’s Pinewood area.

Deputies arriving from the MDSO Northside District found both vehicles — a gray SUV and a black SUV — damaged from the impact.

Authorities said medics with Miami-Dade Fire Recsue treated both drivers at the scene for minor injuries. One driver was transported to a nearby hospital, while the other was taken into custody for allegedly leaving the scene of the crash.

Paramedics tended to the detainee’s injured leg before he was taken away by an ambulance.

They said the black SUV was taken away by a police impound tow truck and the other car was towed and appeared to have caught fire.

Sky 10 flew over the crash scene just after noon as investigators continued surveying the area.

No other details about the crash were immediately released.
