Javier Cavero says the ordeal started Wednesday afternoon. “My roommate sends me a text message: ‘Hey, someone’s in the pool; I’m calling the police.’ I’m like okay - Then I start rushing over here.”

They suspect the man got in through a gate that was left unlocked.

Video shows the officers arriving at the home. They try hooking the man with a pool skimmer to take him and grab him with it.

When that didn’t work, Cavero said they tried lassoing him with the hose, finally pulling him to the ledge.

“I’m just glad no one got injured and it was safe and hopefully he gets some help,” Cavero said.

Police say the man was Baker Acted and taken to a hospital.
