Police officers investigate early morning shooting in Miami

MIAMI — Police officers were investigating a shooting early Tuesday morning in Miami. An off-duty U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officer was involved.

Police officers responded to a report of a shooting shortly after 5:45 a.m. in the area of East Seventh Avenue and 71 Street.

Adam Duke, who lives in the area, said a neighbor had Ring camera video.

“An old guy was checking a car and the story is that one of the other neighbors was walking their dogs, saw this old guy messing with the cars, called her husband, her husband is someone from law enforcement, who came out -- confronted the guy,” Duke said.

A suspect was in police custody, and no one was injured, according to the Miami Police Department.

“The guy shot at him,” Duke said about the off-duty CBP officer. “He shot back, and the uniformed police showed up right away, like within a couple of minutes.”
